Lyon is a gastronomic center with a pretty architectural facade ranging from antiquity to modern day. Place Bellecour is centrally located between the Saône and Rhône Rivers in the 2nd arrondissement and opens out into major shopping streets.
On the banks of the Saône lies the district of Vieux Lyon, a great example of the Renaissance and full of museums such as the Lyon History Museum. Winding your way through the beautiful streets you can make your way up to the spectacular white-stone Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière and look down over the city.
There is a lot going on in the main park of Lyon, Parc de la Tête d'Or, which is home to a zoo of exotic animals as well as various sports facilities and a large lake for boating. Boats of a different description are docked on the banks of the Rhône River; they host parties late into the night.
For a taste of tradition, Lyon’s famous bistros, or Bouchons Lyonnais, provide a cozy atmosphere for some of the best in French gastronomy. Plan your perfect holiday in one of Booking.com’s 130+ hotels, apartments or guest houses.
The city is amazing. So much to see and do! We visited the Fourviere, the Roman Theater Ruins, Mini world, Botanical Gardens, ate amazing food and even visited the modern mall environment. Lyon has so much to offer for everyone. I am looking forward to seeing it again.

We enjoy the wonderful metropolis.
We enjoy the wonderful metropolis. Fraught with excellent landmarks, especially the local Basilica and Lugdunum, this area gives in-depths about the historical roots of the Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes Region. Excellent Fine Art Museum, as well as amphitheater ruins, and boat cruises, along with Living Roman Theater in proximity to local Basilica, all provide great experiences.
Sprawling and large-scale expansions of neighborhoods render this site grand. Walking and running take longer than anticipated, for both the visitors and residents. Having public transit card(s) would be great.
Thankfully, this city provides great selections of cuisines. While the French ones could be heavy on meats and specialties, the Middle Eastern restaurants (including those of Egyptian and Lebanese) provide vegetarian and vegan options--all of which are much more affordable than the Western European ones, which can be heavy with meats of bistros and bouchons. Excellent grocery markets, all in mid-sizes, abound in the Center City District. Those provide enough food selections, in event you need to budget.

Lyon is a food lover's paradise, and the culture and atmosphere is brilliant. The people of Lyon were friendly and helpful, and you can accomplish most things on foot with a bit of energy and moderate fitness. There was plenty to do within the town, but we also chose to rent a vehicle and travel into the surrounding countryside which was a wonderful experience.

The location of hotel was great.
The location of hotel was great. Close to many fabulous restaurants and the Saone River. I enjoyed the relaxing pool. There was an elevator, but the walk to 4th floor was good exercise to work off extra calories. I thought price of breakfast was inluded, but it was not in the reservation I made. It was a good breakfast, but pricey. The Staff was friendly and helpful. Thank you!

We were visiting Lyon to find the childhood home of my father - who
was born and lived there 1918-1925. We found the place he lived in, and had a meal at the nearest Cafe. Our concierge was very interested in telling us about how close the train station would have been to his home, and was interested in the fact that my paternal grandmother was a chef. He wanted to know where she worked in U.S. The city is very large, filled with history, and has all the things
one loves most about France.

I liked the Metro train because it moves very fast underground, and you reach your destination much quicker than when you use a normal Tram. I like that one can walk freely. I did not like that in most tourist areas people do not compromize to speak English so that we can atleast hear. I also liked the Church at the apex, First Catholic church, you can view lyon nicely from the church. I think going alone if you do not speak French is not advisable. I atleast had a frind who speaks French there.
We were at the end of our month visit to France and wanted to be close to Lyon airport for early departure ..
The location was good central to do a little shopping but super crowded city …..
The parking was extra fees which we weren’t expecting and expensive plus very limited
The hotel rates as 5 star which I disagree, its old world style is charming, but the furniture was banged up and needs refreshing not pristine plus it was a tiny room with no view
The worst was the air conditioning vent was extremely dusty and unhealthy
This is the coolest Boutique Hotel in the culinary capital of France. Previously it was a convent. Some of the details from that era remain such as the little cherub sculpture in my photo. Pretty close to many amazing restaurants and chocolatiers. The front desk staff was very helpful as were the people at the breakfast. They recommended Le Bouchon Sully. This is an amazing dining establishment with great value for your dollar. The breakfast was very good. Nice that there's an automated cappuccino machine in the lobby.
Had a lovely stay here, we wish it was longer to enjoy the beautiful view of the river from the lounge area. Space was spacious, beautiful decor and great facilities. Shower was amazing! We didn't cook as we didn't have time but had everything to do so. Communication was good from Hosts and was able to check in later. There is no WiFi which is fine as you have a beautiful place to explore and a few flights of stairs to front door but will get that in most places around France. Enjoyed our stay!!
1. Check-in was ok and smooth.
2. Staff was really welcome.
3. Reaching the parking lot was not easy. They sent us an instruction, but the attachment was broken. I asked them specifically to send it again, but they just repeated their message. Anyway it is good that they put signs on the road next corner and it helped us.
4. Lyon was a one night stop on our way to Spain and it was good that the hotel is not in the city center.
This was a great and affordable place to stay. I was travelling with my mom (senior) and aunt (late 50's). They don't require extravagant accommodations, but do have very high expectations of cleanliness and being in a safe location- Hotel Simplon checked both boxes. It was nice that it had a little bit of character too. The staff were friendly and I will be recommending this hotel to friends who are travelling to Lyon.
The College Hotel was lovely.
Welcomed by very friendly staff.
The location in the old town was fantastic and walking distance to everything
The room was clean, spacious and comfortable
The cocktail bar next to the hotel was nice to have after busy day
The hotel was a former school with lots of memories of those days still about which was interesting
It made our stay in Lyon very enjoyable
Thank you
The location was perfect for my arrival on the Rhone express link from Lyon airport and my return journey to London by train.Public transport links near the hotel could hardly bettered by tram,Metro and bus..Reception staff were very helpful including local tips for brasseries and giving me a wake up knock on my door on my departure day in case my phone alarm had not worked.
It is excellently located in the middle
of everything you would want to visit in Lyon. The rooms are very comfy, clean and modern- and although located in the centre of a bustling city - very silent.
We cannot wait to come back to Okko Hotel- it is really the best choice for this city.
A, and everybody is very nice and ready to help.
All in al we loved it!
good location for a stop over whilst driving from UK to south of France. Secure underground parking. clean, helpful staff, restaurant staff very friendly and accommodated a request for a children’s meal of pasta which they did not offer on the kids menu- which was limited to beef burger or fish.
Gentle and helpful staff, clean room with essential commodities, great location (close to the train station and many shops). (Note: I notice that during this post-pandemic period, probably due to business constraints, this hotel, like the others in France, no longer offers English TV channel.)
it was ok, I was just passing through Lyon and needed a night to get some rest. The downside is they don't have a parking(all hotels in the area don't) so there is a bit of walking from the underground parking to the hotel. Not cool especially if you have a bit of luggage.
Superb location, 1st class front desk support, Clean comfortable room, Absolutely over-the-top incredible breakfast!!! Close to Lyon Part Dieu Train station, large selection of great restaurants within blocks. Walk to Botanical Garden & Old Town. Bravo, Hotel Edmond W!
Great stay at the hotel. Second year running we have stayed as a family at the hotel on our way through to South of France. Perfect place to stop to get some proper rest. Rooms are clean, linen crisp and the breakfast is brilliant. All for a great value.
The propriety is in the city centre, and walking distance to a multitude of restaurants, bars, attractions etc. Usually this chain is in city centers all over France and it offers all the comforts for a stay, including a small kitchen, dishwasher, etc.
I was in Paris before so the room size was completely different when I arrived at the hotel. The location is good, near to Tram station and lyon perrache and you can walk to the city centre and to the old town. The staffs also very helpful.
Location to tram was good. Only a couple minutes walk up the road!
Whilst we’ve listed negatives - we’d say this is an OK hotel to stay if you’re travelling Europe or France on a budget and don’t wish to stay at a hostel.
Bed was comfortable. Room is small but I think that's just France. It's down a little alley way but very easy to locate, there's a sign pointing to it. Train station close, shops close. Cute balcony
Beautiful decor, professional and lovely staff, always a smile and very helpful on any question, tasty and great breakfast. Should I have the pleasure to come back to Lyon, this will be MY Hotel.
