Lovely location overlooking the lake. Breakfast was very good - choice of cold or cooked. Evening meal was in the restaurant overlooking the lake. Staff very approachable and ready to assist. Plenty of car parking space.

This place is gorgeous and totally worth the 20 minute drive from the Ring Road to experience a night surrounded by birch trees and glorious views of the fjord and mountain range from your attic bed! Isabelle met us at arrival and was really helpful and welcoming.

Spacious, modern, large windows, floor-heating, quietly located nearby a lake.
Every room accessible from outside, and everyone of them with a very pleasant seating area right in front, with half of them with a view of the lake.
Every room with a fridge! Big enough for 2 ltr bottles.
Relatively small hotel, with 16 rooms only.
Breakfast well above average! All fresh, great choice.
Complimentary coffee and tea in the restaurant 24/7.

The Hallormsstaður area is on a beautiful lake with the largest forest in Iceland nearby. Several significant waterfalls, including the 420 ft. Hengifoss, are minutes away by car. And yet the area is just 15 minutes from Egilstaðir and all its city amenities. Really an ideal location for exploring Eastern Iceland!

Undoubtedly, this was the best hotel we stayed in during our trip. It is situated in a secluded spot, surrounded by beautiful scenery, trees and lakes. There is ample parking space. The hotel's interior is well designed. The receptionist was more than helpful, explaining to us the hotel facilities and also showed us how to use a particular website about the Northern Lights. The room was quite spacious, cosy and comfortable, equipped with TV, coffee and tea, comfortable bed, en-suite bathroom and space for luggage. Luckily we managed to book the indoor hot bath and sauna for 1 hour (at an extra charge) and it was really a great experience! There is also an outdoor (free) hot tub which can be used till late. There, we were lucky that the night sky was clear and managed to see some Northern Lights. Breakfast was abundant and delicious. A small petrol station is close by, where we managed to wash our car before leaving.
We had to book at the last minute when our other hotel had a plumbing issue and weren't picky. The hotel was clean and comfortable with great beds. The staff was friendly and the breakfast was great. We didn't get a chance to try out the hottub and the spa, but that is an added bonus for anyone who has the time. Also there are some walking trails directly off the property to get a morning or evening walk in. The staff accidentally charged us twice for the room but resolved it immediately when we brought it to their attention.
Everything was just perfect! The location is peaceful in the middle of the forest. The room was big, with amazing view to the forest, lake and the sky! The breakfast was delicious, dinner little bit expensive but very tasty.
The receptionist was a very nice girl, who congratulated us with engagement 😸
The private sauna was amazing and clean.
In addition we saw northen light from the window of our room🤩
The best hotel we had in Iceland! Good job for the hotel and everyone who is responsible for caring for it!
Hotel Hallormsstaður is situated in idyllic surroundings with a lake ,reported to be inhabited by a ´Loch Ness´style monster, and an abundance of trees, a premium consideration in otherwise ´treeless´Iceland.
This countryside tranquility may be enjoyed together with the commercial centre of Egilsstaðir being only 15 minutes´drive away.
The hotel itself provides attractive, clean rooms, a jacuzzi, and a classy restaurant providing a tasty cuisine and full breakfast facilities.
This is a lovely little hotel in the woods with surprisingly nice views of the nearby lake and woods. We shared a family room that was very comfortable for a family of 3. The hotel is very clean. The staff at reception do triple duty as baristas and bartenders in the lobby and were very thoughtful. Everything here is pretty peaceful and relaxing — and the interiors have been upgraded from the exterior. A La carte dinner was decent and breakfast buffet was good, if typical.
Everything!
The hotel is just amazing!
We had a superior suite, which comes with the SPA.
Basically you can use it for some time and it is private.
The room had an amazing view, it was very clean and the staff is super friendly.
We also had Nespresso coffee in our room.
The hotel is Very well located as we could see that night the northern lights.
The breakfast: the best one ever seen so far and very yummy.
This home was located in a beautiful setting with views of the lake, in the national forest. It was spacious, comfortable, and cozy, with a full kitchen, a living space, and comfortable beds. We loved our stay here and wished we could have made it longer--lots of hiking in the area.
We liked the hotel very much. The room was big with a little patio outside, the bed was fine. Everything clean and comfortable, nice breakfast and very nice location. Went to the hot tub outside which good.
Excellent complimentary breakfast, upscale facility, and professional staffing. The hotel is located 20km out of Egilsstadir, it is nested in a tranquil environment. Our room was clean, and WIFI worked well.
We could not say enough about how great our stay was at this hotel. the staff was extremely accommodating, the food in the restaurant was superior, and the location beautiful and the amenities top notch.
Great big rooms with amazing lake view! we celebrated a proposal and had experience the best service from the hotel team.
Dinner at the hotel’s restaurant was great.
