I just loved Oakland!the city has a bad reputation and that is farthest from the truth!first of all,EVERY city has a bad part of town where crime occurs maybe more than other parts of the city! I talked with dozens of people from there who were very personable;helpful; friendly everyone was awesome!!loved Oakland!!

We like to see shows at the Fox Theater, and when we do, we stay at the Moxy hotel and walk there. There are several great eateries in the neighborhood. I recommend HotBird if you like fried chicken! We have never felt unsafe walking this neighborhood. There are a lot of homeless people, which is sad to see.

Oakland is a unique diverse town full of so many different types of cool cultures. I like the culture from The East, West and the North because each area has a different flavor or style to add to the town. There is one thing that bothers me. The homeless crisis is excessive. Affordable housing especially to born and raised in Oakland individuals are housed after out of towers. The majority of Oakland's employers are not even from Oakland. It would be nice to allow Oakland to return to Oakland and allow only Oakland to accommodate it's visitors instead of our visitors becoming our hosts in our own Town and selling our products back to us, ITS A STEAL before our eyes .

Oakland has a high population of homeless people I wasn't aware of. Some areas were better than other but every where you looked was broke down cars with broken widows and tagged on, along with trash everywhere, homeless people and tagging everywhere .
Maybe it's just the area I ended up at, hoping there's more than what I seen.!!!

I think West coast cities are damaged goods at this point.
I think West coast cities are damaged goods at this point.
I will not recommend San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Oakland, Portland, Seattle nor Vancouver.
These places used to have terrific live music, comedy, food, safe walkable neighborhoods and scenery at prices that were justified but the homelessness, filth, gunfire and in-your-face politics make it less enjoyable.
I would sooner go to a smaller city like Salt Lake, Cleveland, Tacoma, Richmond now. Some of those places have some of the same challenges but the prices will be lower and you can enjoy yourself without as much filth and less political distraction.
Good location if you are staying in Oakland. Close to a bus stop and 10 minutes walk to the BART (train to SF-downtown and both airports). Cafés and restaurants nearby. Also a 7eleven round the corner. Decent wifi (was coming and going from time to time). The room is big and comfy. Toilet was very clean. They clean the rooms every second day which is unexpectedly nice. Coffee machine and fridge in the room. Good AC. Storage room for if you are leaving after check out.
Close to the airport, the hotel sent a shuttle for us to and from. The room was large, bed/pillows very comfortable. Easy to get Wifi connection, water was hot. Not a new property, but the interior garden was very pleasant. Not noisy. Fair price. Hotel desk clerk recommended a nearby bar/restaurant that was good for a sports bar. The host was extremely accommodating and friendly. There's a Mediterranean restaurant in the hotel, which, unfortunately, we didn't try.
The room had all expected, clean, fluffy white towels. But the noise and vibration was not a relaxing experience. After getting reception to listen, I was told it was the dryers downstairs. I suspected that I was being lied to, but time would tell.
The only redeeming feature was that it was near the BART.
The restaurant was exceptional, but not part of the hotel.
It is close to the Oakland Airport with free shuttle bus. We were recommended to go to the Mediterranean restaurant next door, but, the the full menu was not available. We walked along the road maybe half a mile on the same side to the Japanese restaurant where we enjoyed a fabulous meal for the same cost. The room was spacious and comfortable with a microwave
We needed a hotel by Oakland airport because we had a very early flight the next morning. The hotel van came to get us after we turned in our rent car, and took us to the airport the following morning. All the hotel staff were sweet and helpful. The restaurant on property was an added bonus because we didn’t have to Uber to dinner.
Well, what I really didn’t like was the fact there was no parking for guest. The hotel offers valet parking with an expense of $30.00. The room was small when compare to other Hampton Hotels. The employee were not that friendly, and breakfast didn’t meet expectations. I will never stay at the Hampton on Oakland again.
not not a corporate owned sterile hotel. Instead it’s a unique old school gem in downtown Oakland. Sure it can use some new carpets and a this and that upgrade, however i love the place just as it is. Has everything i need, easy access, very friendly staff, and comfort
Friendly, courteous staff. Room quiet, clean, very comfortable. Free breakfast, and airport shuttle. We've stayed at almost every other place in the area and this, though slightly higher priced was well worth it. We will defiantly stay there when we fly out of Oakland.
Location is good for accessing downtown Oakland as well as Temescal. Was fairly quiet at night. Courtyard fountain is nice. Staff was friendly; came to make up the room and provided fresh towels everyday.
Super clean and comfortable. Located near airport and car rental facility. Like others, charges for overnight parking. Breakfast was quite acceptable. Have stayed there before and will stay there again.
It had a really nice and clean facility. I was very satisfied with the cozy atmosphere around the house. It has a good neighborhood. I feeled like the hotel gave us a careful consideration.
The accommodation is very good accessible right next to the highway. The room was specious. Check-in was quick, and parking lots were right in front of the hotel. Beds were comfortable.
