Absolutely incredible staff from the moment of arrival to the moment of departure. In particular, Yuuta was so helpful, attentive, and downright elegant.
An EXCEPTIONAL breakfast and dinner were included with our room, prepared as Japanese interpretation of multi-course French cuisine. The view from the dining area was stunning. Absolutely wonderful.

It’s a beautiful spot to visit. I recommend 2-3 days to really experience and explore. I got the Hakone free pass and made my way around the loop over 2 days and the scenery was breathtaking, an extra day would have allowed deeper relaxation and extra exploring.
Definitely explore the shrines around the lake and try and get to an Onsen while you are there. I did find it tricky to find tattoo cover patches, so possibly worth looking into before travelling to Hakone if you need to cover up.

Beautiful nature and atmosphere.
Beautiful nature and atmosphere. The trip to Lake Ashimoto was lovely and the scenery impressive. The highlight of our stay in Hakone was dipping in the local onsens, we loved the experience and the feeling of relaxation after a bath. We ate at different local restaurants, mostly found via map apps, which made great food at reasonable prices. We used the Hakone Pass to get around using trains, cable cars and the ropeway, all very convenient and easy to use. We could have used a couple extra days to visit some of the attractions in the area, that we did not have enough time to enjoy.

Very good city if you wanna walk around and relax in a very calm city. Also good if you like trekking. Although, it is not so easy to transfer around different spots in the city, and the transportation is a little bit expensive.

One of the highlights of our trip to Japan was visiting Hakone. We would wholeheartedly recommend staying in Gora and doing the loop up to the mountain and then on the sightseeing boat. The Hakone Free-Pass offers great value for money.

The hakone free pass is excellent and a must for all visitors. There is an abundance of sites and tourist offerings about the area. We did the railways the open air museum the boat and ropeway and achieved all of this within about 24 hours. It is a beautiful destination and a must from the hustle and bustle of the city life
Amazing service and the location next to the ropeway allows for easy transportation around hakone and access to lake ashinoko. Much better than traveling around by bus which can get stuck in traffic. Meals and service were top notch and the private Onsens were fantastic. They have several you can reserve which direct views of the forest. We reserved the rooftop Onsen with panoramic views of the mountain valley and it was unforgettable. We also had a private Onsen on the deck of our room which was wonderful to wake up and soak in.
We booked Deluxe room with tatami area and open air bath on lake side. Room is clean and has enough space for family. Hotel staff help to arrange futon in room during our dinner time. In room open air bath is really good. We also book private onsen 40 mins with additional 3,000 yen. It's clean and well equipped plus bonus for Dyson hair dyrer in private onsen. Location is convenience. Just 3 mins walk from Togendai port. Easy to travel to other area in Hakone & Gotemba outlet (direct highway bus from Togendai port around 40 mins).
We booked a suite with a private onsen. This was on a balcony with a mountain view. This meant all family members of both sexes could use the onsen at once (in swimsuits!)
The dinners and breakfasts were exceptional, in quality, variety and quantity of food.
There was a 600m downhill walk from the bus stop but the hotel provided transport each morning back to the bus stop.
The location was good - short distance only from Lake Ashi
One of the staff members took great pains to explain everything in English when we arrived.
Staff and service were great!
Was able to drop off luggage before checkin (11am) so we can sightsee, and we were able to schedule our dinner time, breakfast time and book a private onsen (45mins) during our 1- night stay with a relaxing river and mountain view; the public onsens were wonderful, too!
Large, spacious room w/ bath & toilet.
Kaiseki dinner and breakfast were delicious.
Excellent location! Only 3mins from the Hakone-Yumoto Sta. with lots of shops and restaurants around.
I loved the dinner and breakfast menus. Each time it was different, and I loved each set.
It was a bit hard to get to, but at the same time that's also made it great as you can easily relax, away from touristy spots. The bus stop is almost in front of the hotel, so it's not bad, but it will take about an hour to get from Odawara Station to the hotel by bus.
It's close to Lake Ashi (one bus ride away), so if you need to go sightseeing (Hakone Cruise), it's not to far.
The stay at Hakone Suisen alone made it worthwhile to travel to Hakone. The room, property, and onsens are great. The staff are wonderful and do a great job of being attentive while giving you plenty of space and freedom to enjoy yourself. While there's not much to do/eat within walking distance, the hotel is only a short bus ride away from Gora or Hakone Yumoto. The breakfast selection while small was delicious and as a bonus they had awesome specialty coffee.
We loved staying here. This is a traditional Japanese experience and well worth the money. The hotel is extremely well maintained. We loved trying the private onsen and the banquet dinner was exceptional. The staff were eager to help and very easy to converse with. There is a bus stop right outside. Easily accessed by public transport from Odawara. Lake Ashi and the Togendai cablecar is easily accessed by bus. There is a botanic wetlands a short walk away.
We liked our room that was clean, comfortable and big enough for 4 people. It had all the usual Japanese hotel amenities (like slippers and yukata).
We also liked the small onsen and communal space and kitchenette available for guests usage on the 3rd floor.
The hotel is steps away from Hakone Tozan train Gora station and cable car station, near Gora Park. Lawson store and Open Air Museum is a 10-minute walk or 1 train station away.
Central location that is a very short walk from the train station and cable car/ropeway that takes you to Lake Ashi. Great restaurants nearby, didn’t eat at the hotel however heard the food was lovely. Free soft drinks, alcoholic drinks and snacks in the evenings for a set amount of hours. Local convenience stores nearby. Great spa and onsen facilities within the hotel. Rooms spacious. Surrounding grounds of hotel beautiful.
Most of all I love to sleep in tatami beds. The great location and beautiful view and the onsen was nice too. The personnel were great and the dinner and breakfast traditional Japanese which we really appreciated. The hotel were close to Lake Ashi and ferries and buses. 5 minutes walk from the hotel was a possible view of Mt. Fuji-san and we were lucky to see it with a blue sky one morning. Thank you for our pleasent stay.
a wonderful ryokan in traditional Japanese style, incredible breakfasts and dinners that will delight you! very friendly hosts, cozy room. I had a room with a private onsen and it was a great stay. The hotel also has a shared onsen, but I found the water in it hotter than in the private one. The rooms have everything you need; they provide slippers, yukatas, bathrobes, and socks. the appearance of ryokan is great
The hotel is beautifully situated on Lake Ashi, right beside Hakone Shrine and the Tori gate out in the lake. The hotel runs a shuttle bus from the nearby transpot hub on the banks of the lake, where buses to and from Odawara as well as the sightseeing cruise ships can be boarded. The hotel was also extremely clean and well presented. Our room was spacious and comfortable.
This hotel is located in village at higher elevation of Hakone. So it will give you very quiet and serene atmosphere which will be perfect for private outdoor onsen with trees/mountain view. They give you unlimited water/ocha/lemon sour drink that you can pick up anytime you want. Kind staff and well equipped for non-japanese customers.
Gorgeous location on the lake, and our view over the lake and Mount Fuji was fantastic. Our room was huge especially for Japan where rooms are typically small, and had very comfortable beds, and lovely pyjamas. The onsen was great - particularly the outdoor one. The hotel exterior is interesting and imposing. We loved our stay.
The location although a bit remote from Hakone small towns was perfect just by the lake with a nice view of Fuji mountain ( when the weather was nice). The room was big and comfortable and the onsen was great. The hotel staff was very nice and welcoming. the hotel have a western breakfast buffet which is nice.
the best stay in Hakone, you have a public onsen with open and indoor onsen, and the best communal areas are exceptional! the location is very strategic in the Myashita area and Gotemba, the access is within walking distance to the train station, and in the front of the hotel is the bus stop
The onsens and buffet were amazing, and the Japanese and western room was spacious and clean. The service was superb.
We used luggage storage services at Odawara station so that the we were able to walk to the hotel from Hakone-Yumoto station without any hassle. It was easy to find.
The location is great, only a few minutes walk from Hakone Yumoto station and the shopping district.
The hotel staff are very nice, both breakfast and dinner are superb.
The room and onsen facilities are clean and well maintained.
Hakone is a traditional hotel with an Excellent restaurant with exceptional dinners and an Onsen that is inside and outside..the grounds are with a beautiful sitting area ..
Nice atmosphere thanks to the historical charm of the hotel. Great to have an onsen on location. Spacious room.
And perfectly located to do the Hakone loop.
