Aside from the affordable room rates, it's really the hospitality of the owner, Kuya Roy, who made us choose Chamie's again. We remembered how accomodating he was of our needs. This time, he helped us connect with an accredited tour guide (Kuya Dennice) who made our second visit to the Mother Falls, more informative and memorable. The owner also helped us find a surf instructor and massage home service. He also provided us great restaurant recommendations. The room and sheets are clean and has a hot/cold shower. The AC works well. Although the location is not beachfront, the beach is a walking distance. It's also nearby an ATM, a 7/1 and, a coffee shop.

Baler is a great place to stay in order to experience the sights up and down the coastline. There is a good selection of accommodation and eating places, and the whole atmosphere is laid-back. Try and get there on weekdays - weekends and holiday times can get hectic.

I liked that the hotel and area isn't crowded even though we went during peak period. The beach area have the dark volcanic sand but it's not a deterrent. The trash left by local visitors around the beach before and after the hotel area is certainly a disappointment. Why doesn't the local government provide trash cans by the beaches and fine those who ignore using them. There isn't a lot of local food to try nearby. Just a seafood bbq place that have a very long service time.

I loved Baler.
I loved Baler. I have been to the Philippines many times as we have family there. But apart from a trip to Cebu and a couple of provinces where family members live, I have seen more of Manila than anywhere else and this trip to Baler was about ticking a few notable places off my list of must see destinations. And the location of the opening scenes of the movie Apocalypse Now was pretty high on the list. Sabang beach is something else and every bit worth the effort to get to. We went on probably at the most crowded time possible. School holidays during the Easter long weekend when pretty much all but essential workers have a few days off and it seemed like everyone who lived within a couple of hundred k's were there! According to Trip Advisor not a vacancy at any one of 161 hotels in the area (we discovered that on our last night there after being so let down by a QANTAS Hotels booking not honoured). This place is a must visit for anyone wanting to see more of the Philippines than just the listed tourist destinations. Despite there being so many people there enjoying this fairly unique surf beach I saw only a couple of other Westerners. This truely is a local experience.

The vibe, it was out of the blue.
The vibe, it was out of the blue. A mixed of everything, sun, sea and sand. Just watching the surfers glide makes you happy and stress free. The food, seafoods galore and pako salad makes you forget your diet.

Baler is a very long drive from Manila and part of the point is really experiencing this gorgeous drive. Baler itself is very quiet, especially post-pandemic, and you mainly go there to surf. It's a nice place to relax as well, in which case it's best to pick one of the resorts on Sabang Beach or one of the nicer ones away from the main tourist area.
There are some hidden food gems here too, like Kusina Luntian, but fewer now since the pandemic. No night life like La Union, but that's the point. Seems to be no more hostel culture either since the closing of The Circle Hostel due to the pandemic.
It's also a jumpoff point to experience the natural beauty of the region, which is very large and isolated.

Daguisit Rock Formation is very nice. We went there twice.
Daguisit Rock Formation is very nice. We went there twice. We weren't able to go back to Mother falls because the water was still too strong after typhoon Paeng hit Baler. Balete tree is also a good tourist attraction. Also the hanging bridge and Museo de Baler. We did not try surfing at Sabang beach beacuse we have little kids aged 2 and 4. I strongly advice you to get a good guide so you could make the most out of your time during your tour. Try Kubli bistro if you want to eat out. I would like to mention also that the INC chapel in Baler is very beautiful.
Staff 10/10 (Jen Jen and Ms Vi Anne)
Owner (Ms Karen) was kind enough to arrange the most convenient accomodation for my family. We were with a 7 month old baby, and i requested rooms which are right beside each other so i can easily call on my husband when i need him. We also extended another night, bec of an unfortunate event (my son got sick and couldnt drive back to Manila). Thankfully, our rooms were still available for us.
Location of Akkaw Baler is a few steps away to the beach. 👍🏻
Staff and service was consistently great- communication, friendliness, professionalism. Rooms and all other Leary’s of the property are always clean. Breakfast is a good deal. Location is wonderful- not where the noisy, busy crown is but an easy walk along the beach to get there if you want that. Best part about this hotel is watching the sunrise just right outside the property and watching the whole town gather to watch it with you every single morning 🤍
The host is so friendly and very helpful. He assisted us to change the booking date due to unforseen event. The home is perfect for us since I am traveling with my whole family. We can cook. It has complete utensils. There's a safe parking. After staying there, I told myself that I want to have a house like this in our province. Perfectly fit for a small family. Will definitely stay again when we get back to Baler.
excellent experience in VISTA AUROR. great location near to the beach. all of them are very kindly and hospitality. i stay that for almost week, visit every popular destination in Baler. it is the best place because we can cook food in the kichen and i have taste many local food cooked by wonderful lady in Vista. further more, the two lovely girls are great companion to me. looking forward to visit there again.
Nothing!! We arrived at the end of the road and had to go off roading to reach our destination! We felt scared, unsafe, left the the hotel and ended up staying at a different hotel (Costa Pacifica Resort) We do not recommend damara resort to anyone! We were very disappointed!!
Excellent place to stay and by far the cleanest hotel and rooms in Baler. Staff very friendly and accommodating with our request. Good ocean view from the upper balcony (hear the waves).Beach is close by and great pizza and Japanese restaurant nearby. We'll be back for sure.
the place was really really great, the owner was also really nice when i informed him about the group’s late check in. the staff were super nice also. The amenities are superb. If you’re planning to stay in baler for a group of 4-6 this place is bang for the buck.
Everything! Bang for the buck place, comfortable stay, hospitable and friendly hosts. Will definitely book the place again when we go back in Baler
Clean room, bed, linens and pillows. Aircon works great during summer. There is also an available fan in our room.
Fairly clean with comfy beds. Accomodating staff. Fair priced. Good location if youre not planning to surf (we go to Baler, usually for business). It's along T. Molina St which is a main road. Not very far from the beach, you can easily take a tricycle.
Value for money. The hotel was a quiet and uncrowded place to unwind. Wifi was reliable for sending out emails. The hotel also offers free shuttle services for the guests and dine-in discounts at Costa Pacifica. The staff were helpful and friendly.
Everything about the hotel was good. The Rooms, Restaurant food variety & taste, Hotel Staff; and the Location, everything was to our liking. Really enjoyed our 4 days stay here. Will surely stay at this place again if we're in Baler !
Already my second time in the hotel. It is going to be my choice for my third time likely. :-) The beach is right there outside the yard, and it is always fantastic to watch a full moon rise, again.
The location and staff are great and you have direct access to beach and boardwalk. We stayed for the new year and the hotel had an event that was very good
Everyone at Vista Aurora were very accomodating and pleasant. They always greeted everyone with a smile and were very helpful. Will definitely go back! 🌞🌊
