Honestly the only thing I liked about this property was the staff at the front desk. They were nice and I never fail to appreciate good hospitality. Oh another thing is the location. If you want good access to water sports in Zanzibar, this place is good.

The location of this resort is amazing.
There’s life here comparing to other resort a little far from kendwa area.
The water in the beach is just right there as soon as you step out of the room not far.
Our stay was made memorable by Peter.
He was attentive to our needs. Ever warm and approachable.
He went out of his way to prepare a surprise romantic dinner which was so beautiful. We were short of words, indeed pleasantly surprised.
We were treated so well all through our stay.

In general, the hotel was okay, with an excellent location.
In general, the hotel was okay, with an excellent location. However, there were some issues to address:
The breakfast had a good variety of food, but unfortunately, warm items were cold. When I requested my sausages to be reheated, they were returned cold, accompanied by a surprised question about wanting them hot. It would be better if the staff anticipated the preference for warm breakfast items.
The bed was so uncomfortable, causing back pain every morning. I tried all sides of mattress, and anyways there was a pit regardless of the position. This might be specific to only my bed, but it needs attention.
The restaurant offers good food at reasonable prices, and the waiters speaks good English and are polite ( except trainees)
Cleanless! Room was clean and tide, but there were several diferent bugs around, but its Africa, you just need to ask to spray your room for bugs (i asked but they never did) and you need to ask for wc paper and ask for clean towels. Water pression in the shower and hot water was very good.
Unfortunately AC didnt wor for last 2 nights. I guess a gas just finished, but noone came to check on it, just excuses about low voltage. Well, when voltage was low even fridge was not working, bet when voltage restored AC and fridge worked excellent. Water got frozen in the fridge in 1h - so thats not a low voltage at all.
Despite the issues, I tought I would consider to come back, but after last 2 nights struggles, I doubt about it.
Particularly I would suggest a room with a sea view and small private pool, keeping in mind that perfection may not exist in every aspect, especially in a place like Zanzibar.

The internet is going to tell you Kendwa has the most beautiful beach in Zanzibar....it has not....not at all....yes, the beach is nice and wide and white.....but there is no vegetation at all, it's full of sunbeds and umbrellas from the resorts/hotels....way to many traders and not much to offer than going up and down, only to then retreat to your hotel or some place with shade....if you come here for drinks or a party, fine, but don't waste all of your vacation here, when there are many other cheaper and more beautiful places on the island...

Kendwa beach in its self is one of the best I have been too and I have been a regular beach traveller worldwide for the last 40 years. The only advice I would suggest would be to vet the hotel thoroughly as sunseabar was not upto standard it advertised. Go out into local restaurants we tried 4 different ones all were superb so far superior to the hotel

Clean, small and quiet guest house right on the beach!
Clean, small and quiet guest house right on the beach! They welcome you with a delicious fresh tropical juice! It is nice to see local people and fishermen living just next door. In the other hand thou, the front sea is full of boats that make swimming a bit complicated. The staff is very kind. Rooms are sober but clean and furnitures are nicely wooden. Breakfast is in range(no buffet, no choice) but good. Very much recommended place. I would definitely return there.

Kendwa is the perfect beach holiday.
Kendwa is the perfect beach holiday.
This is the only area bot effected by tides.
The beach is wonderful and offers great places to eat. Kendwa rocks offers a great BBQ with live entertainment on Saturdays.
The place was for us, family with two small children, a little gem. Do not let the alley leading to the door fool you. It is right on the beach, and quiet. Clean and nice rooms with big windows. We were welcomed with fresh juice. Five minutes walk to the very crowded area by Kendwa Rocks- where the very best part of the beach is. The chef served the best fish we've had during our four week stay in Zanzibar, also a tasty breakfast. He surprised us with a small squid dish on the side. When we go back we will definitely stay here.
You have got to love the place..
They have upgraded my room to beach side., Nevertheless the staff and I mean everyone; are extremely helpful and smiling all the time they made us feel happy, also Ahmed and Kareem the owner they made us feel like home with their hospitality, room were above my expectations comparing to what I have paid, room had everything AC and fan amenities and the restaurant of the hotel had amazing food with affordable prices we hardly ate outside, thank for the great stay, can't wait to come back!!
Good location, though access is not immediate.
They have a partnership with Kendwa Rocks Hotel and for 20 USD you can enjoy their pool and beach sunbeads.
The restaurant is very good. Great food with normal price range. Good breakfast as well.
They are worried about the quality of the stay and ask for feedback at the moment, which gives guests the opportunity to communicate if something is not going so well and they try to improve / meet your needs, which happened to us.
Everything everything everything. The location, the villa, the pool, the beach, the food. The customer service rated as 10 stars. Special thanks to Haleluya the best staff ever. She treated us as friends. She is very professional and always try to make our stay unforgettable. I will come back to the place especially for her. I highly recommend the place for every one. Special thanks to Clay, Andree, Mousa (housekeeper) and Dawood (chef)
We stayed at Gold Zanzibar for 3 nights. It is a beautiful resort in an amazing location right on Kendwa beach. The food was incredible and the buffets had so many options. The pool was nice and there was also a spa that had a great deal on some of their treatments. The staff were friendly and helpful and the room was lovely, with beautiful balcony views.
We really liked the quiet & serene location of the hotel on Kendwa beach.
Would definitely go back.
The breakfast was our favourite meal of the day!!
Comfortable and adequate rooms.
Karim, Farooq and the hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating.
Families, solo travellers and couples...all seemed to comfortably stay there!!
• The location of the SunSeaBar hotel is truly spectacular, with immediate access to the pristine waters of the Zanzibar channel.
• The hotel features a great pool, sun loungers, and a restaurant.
• The hotel was very clean, and housekeeping did a great job throughout, giving public areas and corridors a pleasant fresh smell.
The view is to die for. To sit in your balcony and watch the sunset makes the place worth it. It's location is decent a 3min walk to the beach and a minute away from Kendwa rocks. The bed was really comfortable and the room was clean. The staff member (local) at the restaurant was really nice. The building is new and clean.
Honestly the only thing I liked about this property was the staff at the front desk. They were nice and I never fail to appreciate good hospitality. Oh another thing is the location. If you want good access to water sports in Zanzibar, this place is good.
The hotel offers access to one of the best beaches in the whole of Zanzibar island. Very clean rooms and exceptional hospitality. Thank you guys for making our stay so comfortable. A special thanks to Queen, Ummy and Monika. Love you guys 😘
Location in the best beach in Zanzibar 😊
The room is ok… a bit far away from the beach, but ok. The room is good, clean, but we were missing in bathroom some hangers for towels and things. Food in Restaurant is very good and tasty.
-Genuinely great hotel, nice beach, food and service. Quite like it actually and would return should I come to Zanzibar again
-Suggest opting for an all-inclusive option - it is worth it and the guys here make great cocktails
Everything was perfect, Beach Bungalow very big and right on the beach. Restaurant very good food and prices, Kendwa beach is superb very clean and very nice water. Garden is very well maintained and very nice scenery.
in general all is excellent , the hotel located on the best beach in Zanzibar , service was good and food was delicious , big resort , nice place to relax , lovely breakfast and friendly staff .
The rooms were clean, very comfortable, and the staff was amazing. They went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Zanzibar.
